Does Your Home Need A Katy Roof Repair?

It can be hard to tell if and when you need roof repairs but one thing is for sure: Katy roof repairs are inevitable. In our 40+ years of experience, we have found that asking yourself the following questions will prove very helpful in determining whether you need roof repairs.

1: Is Your Roof Over 20 Years Old?

Katy roofs can last about 20 years on average. However, higher-end roof shingles may last longer. If your roof is over 20 years old, then this suggests that your roof has sustained extensive damage over the years, such as from past hurricanes, hailstorms, and perhaps even from overgrown tree branches that critters have easy access to.

2: Are Your Roof Shingles Curling?

Sturdy shingles should lay flat against the decking on your roof. If you notice they are starting to crease or curl, then this means they’re severely weakened and will no longer protect your roof sufficiently. If these shingles aren’t replaced, then your roof may quickly succumb to heavy rain and hurricane damage.

3: Does Your Katy Roof Sag Anywhere?

A tell-tale sign that your Houston roof is damaged is when you see any sagging spots. Sagging is often due to rotting, which occurs when moisture gets trapped underneath curled or creased shingles, and although this typically warrants a Katy roof replacement, sometimes a repair is enough to fix this. A roof that has sagging spots is a roof that is far too weak to protect against storms, and considering we are in peak hurricane season, you need your roof to be storm-ready.

4: Does Your Thermostat Seem Inaccurate?

As the temperature gradually fluctuates, you may be adjusting your thermostat more often. If you lower the temperature in your home so that it’s cooler, but still feel warm, this may not be a thermostat problem. Instead, it could be a problem with your roof, such as exposed decking or damaged insulation.
